Carriage Mounted Spreader Bars - This particular type of mast includes three parts as the name implies. The outer part is connected firmly to the lift vehicle. The next part telescopes within the mounted outside part and the inner most part telescopes in the intermediate part. Both the intermediate and the internal section raise and the lift cylinders lengthen. Once again in this model, the fork carriage rides in the internal part. The 3 stage mast provides a shorter lowered height compared to the 2 stage mast. The common usage of the 3 stage mast is in areas such as doorways where overhead clearances are restricted. This particular mast is often equipped with a center cylinder to let the fork carriage elevate several distance before the mast parts start lengthening.
The 2 Stage Mast includes two sections. The internal section telescopes in the external and elevates while the lift cylinders extend. The external section of this particular mast model is attached to the lift truck. The fork carriage is situated within the internal part. This mast type has a taller lowered height than an equivalent 3 stage mast or lift height quad mast.
